Online grocery is the most demanding form of retail fulfillment there is. Margins are narrow, most of the assortment is perishable, the customer expects the order the same day, and each of those pressures works against the others. Veloq is the platform built to reconcile them. It runs all twelve of Rohlik Group's fulfillment centers across five European countries, and since June 2025 it has been available to grocers everywhere.
Where the platform came from
Rohlik began in Prague in 2014 with one warehouse and a promise to deliver groceries the same day. Its founder, Tomáš Čupr, assumed the software to run that operation could simply be bought. It could not.
The systems on the market had been written for warehouses where a unit is a unit: pharmaceuticals, industrial components, general merchandise. Grocery behaves differently. Stock ripens and expires. Products pass through five temperature zones between the shelf and the customer's door. A substantial share of the basket is sold by weight rather than by count, which sounded like a minor technicality until an integrator quoted €100,000 to add weighing to a system that was never designed for it.
So Rohlik wrote its own software, and then spent ten years rewriting it as the business expanded into Hungary, Austria, Germany, and Romania. Every new market exposed an assumption the previous version had made. Fulfillment centers were opened, filled, redesigned, and in several cases automated while still running. All of that and all of Rohlik's learning along the way have made their way into Veloq.
Berlin, 2023
In October 2023 Rohlik acquired Bringmeister, an online grocer that had been serving Berlin for two decades. It was a sound business with an aging proposition: order today, receive tomorrow, fulfilled from a warehouse, with a software stack assembled over twenty years.
The acquisition raised a question the group had never had to answer. Every market Rohlik had entered until then, it had built from an empty building and its own software. Bringmeister arrived with a live operation, existing customers, an incumbent system, and no tolerance for a year of disruption. If the platform could work anywhere other than where it had grown up, Berlin was where it would have to demonstrate it.
The migration took about six months. The full stack went live in April 2024, and the customer proposition changed with it: same-day delivery in fifteen-minute windows, across the whole assortment, fresh bakery and weighted items included.
The commercial results followed: In its first full month on the platform, May 2024, Bringmeister took 57,756 orders. By March 2026, it was taking 134,860 a month, an increase of 134%. Same-day delivery grew from 12% of volume to more than 85%. Cost per order fell by 58%. Meanwhile, the fulfillment center recorded 32,409 working hours in May 2024 compared to 32,147 in March 2026; in other words, the business had more than doubled inside the same building with the same labor.
Bringmeister proved that Veloq could be taken into an established operation it had not designed, and change that operation's economics within two years.
Veloq
Veloq was spun out on June 10, 2025. "Veloq is the commercialization of a decade of operational and technological expertise at Rohlik," Čupr said at launch. "We see this as a generational opportunity to lead the AI-driven transformation of grocery. The platform is battle-tested, the market is ready, and our model is built for global scalability."
Today, Veloq powers Rohlik's entire network across five countries, handling more than 100,000 orders a day and over €1.7 billion in annual revenue, with a Net Promoter Score above 90. Veloq powers Rohlik's five manually operated sites, as well as its seven automated sites, each with two AutoStore grids for chilled and ambient goods.
Veloq is the largest operator of AutoStore equipment for grocery in the world and works with AutoStore as a global partner. Robotic picking arms supplied by Sereact, a partnership extended globally in 2026, are now working in Vienna and Berlin.
Veloq is designed to be adopted in modules, by operators of different sizes, into buildings that already exist.
